Accessible Girls Trip to Nashville

There’s something about Nashville that sweeps you up the moment you arrive. The lights, the music, the food, the energy—it’s all contagious! LaLa and I couldn’t wait to dive in headfirst on our girls trip, and looking back, it was the perfect mix of fun, work, relaxation, and memories we’ll never forget. We checked into Holston House Hotel, which became our home for the trip. This place was breathtaking! Just steps from Broadway, it had all the southern charm of a chic boutique hotel with the added bonus of being fully handicap accessible, which made everything so much easier for me personally. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome from the second we walked in. Our room was stylish and cozy, but the bathroom stole the show—it was huge, modern, and had a walk-in shower with HOT water that felt like pure heaven after long days exploring Nashville. And then there was the rooftop pool. Overlooking the skyline, it was a perfect little escape above the buzzing city below. One of the first places we went to was Puttshack, a restaurant and bar combined with mini-golf. The energy was lighthearted, and before long we were in a friendly competition playing a round of mini-golf that had us laughing until our stomachs hurt. LaLa ordered the Birria Tacos, I went with a Cheeseburger, and both dishes were fresh and delicious. But dessert was where things got serious! The Nutella S’mores flatbread and the Beignets were so good we could have ordered them twice. Puttshack was also fully wheelchair accessible, more than enough room, which made the experience enjoyable for both of us. Of course, no Nashville trip is complete without a walk down Broadway. LaLa went to Ole Red, Blake Shelton’s bar, to support the Hudson Valley Band. It was such a great experience to see familiar faces rocking out on a Nashville stage. But her walk back to the hotel after midnight took a frightening turn when she was approached by a man who pushed her against a wall, grabbed her wrist, and got right in her face. Thankfully, two men nearby saw what was happening and rushed over to help her. It was a terrifying moment and a wake-up call for all women: please, do not walk back to your hotel alone late at night. Nashville is amazing, but safety has to come first. Take a ride share, ask a cop if one is around to walk you back, and never let your guard down after dark. Another highlight of our trip was Nashville Underground, Gavin and Joey DeGraw’s six-story venue at the end of Broadway. It felt like its own city within a building, with something different on every floor—bars, food, live music, games, karaoke, even bowling. We made our way to the rooftop where we ate while looking out at the neon lights of Broadway. The view was BREATHTAKING! The food was incredible, and the energy was unmatched. While we soaked up Nashville’s food and nightlife, we also had the chance to sit down and interview two incredible singer-songwriters, Mary-Clair and Coey Redd. Both women shared their stories, their music, and their dreams, and it was such an honor to feature them while we were in town. These interviews added so much depth to our trip, giving us a chance to connect with the heartbeat of Nashville—the artists themselves. When I look back on this trip, what stands out most is how Nashville gave us everything we were hoping for. Holston House provided comfort and style, Puttshack gave us laughter and great food, Ole Red reminded us of home while delivering unforgettable music, Nashville Underground showed us Broadway from above, and our interviews with Mary-Clair and Coey Redd gave us stories that will stay with us forever. If you’re planning a girls trip to Nashville, put all of this on your list. Between the music, the food, the nightlife, and the people, this city has a way of filling your heart and leaving you with memories you’ll never forget. Just remember to stay safe, stick together, and soak in every single moment of Music City. All of these places ARE Shawna and LaLa APPROVED for accessibility!
