I attended the second concert at Bethel Woods—Willie Nelson – Opening the show for Willie was Kasey Musgraves. She was amazing!! I am definitely a new fan! Loved her “Trailer Park” song and “Merry Go Round”– two of my favorites. Following Kasey was Allison Krauss who shared how much they enjoyed a tour of the grounds, visiting the monument and paying respect to those who previously played at Woodstock. Fan’s favorite was listening to the banjo and violin incorporated into many of her songs. Willie Nelson–What a legend. I met Willie Nelson years ago. I was front row at his concert and still to this day feel honored he picked me out of the crowd to meet him after the show. Seeing him perform again 15 years later was awesome! Willie opened the show with our all time favorite songs like “Whiskey River” and “A Good Hearted Woman”. Excitement was in the air as the fans immediately rose to the feet and joined in singing his classics “Momma Don’t let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys”, “On the Road Again”, “You Were Always On My Mind” and many more. Willie was awesome as always. He performed on his signature guitar, sounding as good at 81 as he did in his 30’s. The one song that hit my heart was “Funny How Time Slips Away”, making me realize how quickly time goes by and how suddenly circumstances can change, but feelings or emotions will stay the same. Willie invited the opening acts onto the stage to perform. They sang “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”, as the fans joined in not missing a word. As the concert ended I thought about the hidden message in his song “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die.”Stay tuned for my Carlos Santana concert review.
